Nurjahan Chowdhury Passed Away!
Mrs Nurjahan Yasmin Chowdhury (wife of Mr Ruhul Huqq Chowdhury of Hassalgrove) passed away today (26-Jul-2010) around 1:30 pm at the palliative care unit of Mount Druitt Hospital in Western Sydney (Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilaihi Rajiun). She has been suffering from Ovarian Cancer for last 3 years. A very kind and friendly person Mrs Chowdhury will be missed by the Bangladeshi community in Sydney. She is survived by her two sons (Abdullah, Rahel) and one daughter (Rubaiyat). We pray for her departed soul and express our heartfelt condolences to all the members of her bereaved family. Her burial will take place at the Riverstone Cemetery tomorrow (27-Jul-2010) following Namaj-e-Janaza at the Auburn Gallipoli Mosque (Turkish Mosque) at 12 pm after Zuhr prayer.

Nehal Bari's Father Passed Away!
The visionary of "Ekushe Boi Mela" in Sydney and the first president of Ekushe Academy Australia Mr. Nehal Neyamul Bari's father Alhaj Abdul Jabbar passed away in the early hours of 3-Jul-2010 in his residence in Banasri, Dhaka at the age of 86. He was a govt. officer and a renowned English teacher. His Namaj-e-Janaja will be held in Barishal town followed by his burial at the Barishal Central Gorosthan. Samia Choudhury passed away!
Samia binte Sirajul Haque Choudhury, a senior member of Bangladesh Community in Sydney passed away yesterday (29-Jun-2010) at 10:50pm at the St. Joseph Hospital in Auburn (Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilaihi Rajiun). She lived in Erskine Park for about 20 years before moving to Auburn last year. A teacher of NSW TAFE Samia was diagnosed with lung cancer 2 years ago. Soft spoken, pious and kind hearted Samia was well known for her generosity. She and her family members donated a large amount of money to the Ahasania Mission Cancer Hospital in Dhaka. We pray for her departed soul and express our deepest condolences to all the members of her bereaved family. Her Namaj-e-Janaza will be held after Zuhr prayer today (30-Jun-2010) at 12:00 pm at the Lakemba Mosque (67 Wangee Rd, Lakemba). She will be buried at Riverstone Cemetery (Cemetery Rd, off Garfield Rd West) this afternoon at 2:00 pm. All community members are requested to attend her Namaz-e-Janaza and the burial – Dr. Abdul Haq

Bangladeshi community in Blacktown, Lakemba and Glenfield area held their annual fund raising (breakfast) program on 9th, 23rd and 30th of May 2010. A total of $8012.50 was raised in three programs. Entire amount has been donated to the Cancer Council NSW on behalf of the Bangladeshi community.

Blacktown-Hills Islamic Center (BHIC) organized breakfast on Sunday 16-May-2010 at the Quakers Hill Masjid premise to raise funds for the Cancer Council of NSW. A total of $1257.10 was raised. Entire proceeds was donated to the Cancer Council. This is the first time BHIC organised such an event. BHIC expects to organize similar fund-raising programs on a regular basis in future.
